Isaiah 32

    I. (1-39) Condemnation
        A. Chapters 1-12 - Prophecies against Judah
        B. Chapters 13-23 - Prophecies against the Nations
        C. Chapters 24-27 - Prophecies of the Day of the Lord
        D. Chapters 28-35 - Prophecies of Judgment and Blessing
            1. \\#28:1-29\\ Ephraim’s Future
            2. \\#29:1-24\\ Jerusalem’s Future
            3. \\#30:1-33\\ Israel’s Future
            4. \\#31:1-9\\ Egypt and Judah’s Present
            5. \\#32:1-20\\ Israel’s Future - While the theme is repeated from
chapter 30, so it must be. The Lord is telling us of Israel’s
tribulation and millennial kingdom (although not in that order).

5. \\#32:1-20\\
    a. \\#1-8\\ A Righteous Future - After describing the fall of the Assyrians
(and maybe giving some imagery of the fall of the anti-christ), the Lord
describes now a righteous King’s reign.
        1. \\#1\\ The King which "shall reign in righteousness" is the Lord.
        2. \\#2\\ He will also have princes to help Him in ruling.

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was
given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness
of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast,
neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in
their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

        3. \\#2\\ Because of the righteousness of that time, a righteous man
will be able to accomplish much. He will be a hiding place, a
covert, a river of water, and a rock for shade.
        4. \\#3\\ During that time, "the eyes… shall not dim" and "the ears…
shall hearken." There will be no blind or deaf.
        5. \\#4\\ Even the "rash" or impulsive shall have good understanding.
        6. \\#4\\ And the "stammerer" shall speak plainly.
        7. \\#5-8\\ And God will expose the vile and the churl (scoundrel) for
what they are. Isaiah is noting how some call these kind of wicked
people liberal or generous because they have been deceived by their
"hypocrisy," but they use "evil instruments" and "wicked devices."
In that day, they will not be able to hide behind their deceit.

    b. \\#9-14\\ A Frightful Future - Inserted between these two sections of
blessings is a description of the judgments Israel will first go through.
        1. \\#9\\ Isaiah speaks to the "women that are ease and the careless
daughters." While few would ever call the day they live in one of
carelessness, compared to times of military conquest and oppression,
any day of freedom would be. The women living in Isaiah’s day were
about to go from days of relative peace to days of great hardships.
        2. \\#10\\ "Many days and years shall ye be troubled…" - This could
be a reference to the Assyrian invasion, or to the many centuries
of oppression since the Babylonian conquest, or specifically to
            the tribulation.
        3. \\#10-14\\ During these days….
            a. \\#10\\ "the vintage (crops of grapes) shall fail…"
            b. \\#10\\ "the gathering (harvest in general) shall not come…"
            c. \\#11\\ the women should "gird sackcloth upon your loins…"
            d. \\#12\\ and "lament" for the dryness the days would bring to
themselves, their fields, and the vines…
            e. \\#13\\ on the land "shall come up thorns and briers…"
            f. \\#14\\ because "the places shall be forsaken."

    c. \\#15-20\\ A Peaceful Future
        1. \\#15\\ "Until" - The frightful condition shall have a definite end.
        2. \\#15\\ "the spirit be poured upon us out on high" - The outpouring
of the Holy Spirit will probably begin half way through the
tribulation when the Jews come to Christ. It will certainly be so
            during the millennium.
        3. \\#15\\ "and the wilderness" is "a fruitful field, and the fruitful
field" is "counted for a forest." All indications of extreme
            agricultural blessings.
        4. \\#16\\ Judgment and righteousness shall abide even to the rural
            areas.
        5. \\#17\\ And because of the effect of these virtues; peace,
quietness, and assurance will dwell among God’s people.
        6. \\#18\\ The land shall be filled with peace and their dwelling shall
            secured.
        7. \\#19-20\\ Verse 19 is an incomplete sentence.
            a. Some think it goes with the next verse, implying that even when
problems like hail shall come to the forest, the Jews will still
be blessed with good places to sow seed and let their cattle
                range.
            b. My question would be when will this happen. The text was talking
about the millennial and there should be no uncontrolled hail
                during that time.
            c. I wonder if the hail is symbolic to speak of the judgment that
God must first send upon Israel. If so, it would probably be a
reference back to the tribulation, to be followed by a time
when the fields will be freely sowed and the oxen allowed to
                roam loose.
