Isaiah 39

    I. (1-39) Condemnation
        A. Chapters 1-12 - Prophecies against Judah
        B. Chapters 13-23 - Prophecies against the Nations
        C. Chapters 24-27 - Prophecies of the Day of the Lord
        D. Chapters 28-35 - Prophecies of Judgment and Blessing
        E. Chapters 36-39 - Historical accounts - Because these chapters are
narrative, only a few comments will be made.
            1. Chapters 36-37 - The defeat of Assyria
            2. Chapter 38 - Hezekiah’s Request \\#2Kings 20:1-11\\
            3. Chapter 39 - Hezekiah’s Failure \\#2Kings 20:12-21\\
Some would say this chapter should be called Hezekiah’s Sin.
They believe that \\#5-7\\ is God pronouncing a curse upon
Hezekiah for his pride in showing Babylon all of his wealth.
While it may be that Hezekiah was proud, I believe what God
pronounced was a prophecy of what was already determined to
happen to Israel and not a judgment due to Hezekiah’s behavior.
Yet, Hezekiah did fail in \\#8\\. When we are only concerned
with our conditions and not the well being of children, we have
                missed an important life lesson.
