I. \\#Isa 62:1-12\\ Messiah’s Yearnings
    A. \\#Isa 62:1-5\\ Messiah’s Anticipation
        1. \\#1\\ "I will not hold my peace… nor rest" - God is anxious for
Israel’s future blessings. As much as Israel might long for the
curse upon them to end, God longs even more for the day when Israel,
            His beloved, will be His.
            a. God desires the day when their "righteousness… and… salvation"
will be as evident "as brightness" or "a lamp that burneth."
            b. \\#2\\ God looks forward to when "the Gentiles shall see" Israel’s
                righteousness…"
            c. …and to the day when Israel "shall be called by a new name,
                 which… the Lord shall name."
            d. \\#3\\ God longs for a time when Israel will be "a crown of glory…
and a royal diadem… of God."
            d. \\#4\\ God wants that Israel would be "no more be termed
                Forsaken… Desolate."
            e. God delights in the day when Israel shall be called HEPHZIBAH,
I DELIGHT IN HER, and BEULAH, "MY MATE or MY WIFE.
        2. \\#5\\ "For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry
thee" - God sees the day when Israel’s children will marry and be
            filled with joy.
        3. "as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice
over thee" - God’s heart is full of anticipation and excitement of
these future days. God almost describes Himself as giddy as He
            contemplates that day.
    B. \\#Isa 62:6-9\\ Messiah’s Petition
        1. \\#Isa 62:6-7\\ God has requested prayer for that day.
            a. \\#6\\ "I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem" - It
would seem that God has appointed WATCHMEN, perhaps in every
generation to complete the request He is giving.
            b. \\#6-7\\ "never hold their peace day nor night… keep not
silence and to give him no rest" - God tells these WATCHMEN to
never stop making the following request.
            c. "till he establish, and… make Jerusalem a praise in the earth"
Messiah’s petition is that this remnant would bombard heaven
until He brings these glorious days of Israel to pass.
        2. \\#Isa 62:8-9\\ God repeats the promise the watchmen are to seek.
These are the kinds of promises which form the basis for such
            determined praying.
            a. \\#8\\ "The Lord hath sworn" - God has repeatedly promised to
turn Israel’s curse into a day of blessings. God again mentions
"his right hand" and His strong arm, indicators that He will do
the work necessary to fulfill His promise.
            b. "Surely I will no more give the corn… for thine enemies" - God
promises a day when Israel’s enemies will no longer take the
food and drink "for which thou hast laboured."
            c. \\#9\\ "But they that have gathered it shall eat… praise the
Lord" - In that day, Israel will have the food they worked to
grow and will eat it in worship to the Lord.
            d. "in the courts of my holiness" - Perhaps this is a reference to
Israel being able to bring their harvest offerings to the Lord,
(i.e. Firstfruits, Thanksgiving Offerings, Meal Offerings, and
                Feasts of Tabernacles)
    C. \\#Isa 62:10-12\\ Messiah’s Command
        1. \\#10\\ "go through the gates, prepare" - God’s command is for
Israel to get ready for Messiah’s coming. They should prepare the
HIGHWAY and GATHER… THE STONES, implying Messiah’s coming is near.
It is evident that God’s clock runs differently from ours. It will
be more than 700 years until Jesus comes the first time. Because of
the Jews rejection of Jesus the first time, these prophecies deal
            with His millennial coming.
        2. \\#11\\ "Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with
him" - Yet Messiah is going to come.
            a. When Messiah comes, He will REWARD evil to His enemies and good to
                His people.
            b. "his work before him" - Before the time of reward, will come the
time of Messiah’s work. Indeed, before Jesus returns to judge the
world, He will have provided redemption and sent the tribulation.
        3. \\#12\\ "And they shall call them" - When Messiah comes, Israel will
            be called by several names.
            a. THE HOLY PEOPLE - To say that they are a changed people.
            b. THE REDEEMED OF THE LORD - To say that they are a saved people.
            c. SOUGHT OUT - To say that they are a people found by the Lord.
            d. A CITY NOT FORSAKEN - To say that God never abandoned His people.
