IV. While this verse may seem like a strong verse for Baptismal Regeneration, 1Peter 3:21 makes it clear that it is not. That is the last verse on our list, so we will come to it in a moment. For now, let me just note the two views concerning this verse.
A. Those who believe in Baptismal Regeneration believe the washing to be literal; that is, sins are literally washed away when they are baptized.
B. Those who reject Baptismal Regeneration believe the washing to be figurative; that is, baptism is a picture of our sins being washed away.
