Homosexuality:
What Does the Bible Say?

Article 4

IV. Is homosexuality a civil right?

A. No more than jay walking.

B. I could say more about this, but the simple truth is that there is no connection in having a certain skin color or disability and a behavior that one chooses to participate in.

C. Homosexuality is an act that God, human laws, and society has condemned for centuries. Calling a behavior a civil right does not change what it is or give any special privilege to it.

V. Don't people have the right to be gay if they want?

A. No. God has decreed homosexuality wrong. No person has a RIGHT to do WRONG.

20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Isaiah 5

B. No one has the right to kill, to lie, to steal, to commit adultery, or to break any other of God's laws. Mankind may THINK these are his rights, but they are his SINS; and God will judge those with sins on their account.

VI. Why are Christians so vocal about homosexuality? I have heard some non-Christians wonder out loud as to why Christians are so vocal against homosexuality. A few years ago, a friend of mine was on an international flight and struck up a conversation with a non-American. As they talked about their different political and religious views, the man asked, "Why are American Christians so upset about homosexuality? It is just another sin." Well, there are actually several reasons.

A. I have already discussed one very important reason. Christians are vocal about homosexuality because they care about the souls of those who are engaged in sinful behavior. God spoke specifically about those engaged in this activity. What He said does not bode well for those who ignore Him. I will not belabor the point by repeating myself, but non- Christians should at least attempt to understand how much Christians care for them and what a motivating factor that is for them on this topic.

B. Christians are vocal because of the direction our country is moving. America has taken many steps AWAY from God in recent years. Some Christians would say it started in the 1960's with the hippies and their "free love" lifestyle. Soon after, prayer was removed from public school, abortion was made legal, and the Bible was removed from public facilities. Entertainment quickly turned vulgar then violent and sexual. Gambling has largely been accepted by the public and even operated for profit by many state governments. Drugs have destroyed countless lives and our nation is moving towards a socialist (Obamacare), anti-God (Islam has become the favored religion of the America since 9/11) state. There are only so many wrongs that can be accepted by a nation before a country implodes upon itself and many Christians see homosexuality as the potential final straw.

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. Ps 9:17

Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. Ps 50:22

C. Christians are vocal because homosexuality acceptance means the end to the home as God created it.

1. Marriage and the home are not creations of human government. They were established by God and need God's blessings.

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Ge 2:24

a. While most may not know it, there is a blessing that God puts on a righteous marriage.

What therefore GOD hath joined together, let not man put as under. Mr 10:9

b. God, not government, joins a man and a woman together. As a living person is more than a body with organs and blood, so a home is more than a few people living under the same roof. A home is the joining of a man and a woman together in honor of God and blessed by Him. God spiritually and physically joins the two together and blesses as many of their endeavors as He sees fit.

c. However, God will not bless a home which is not built on His precepts--and homosexuality is not one of God's precepts.

2. The effect of losing God's blessings can be seen in our country. As America has turned from God, things have changed dramatically and for the worse. Drug abuse, crime, violence in general, lower educational scores, higher drop out rates, and increased debt both by families and by government are just a few examples.

3. Already the home has struggled against increased abandonment, divorce, live-ins, out-of-wedlock births, and adultery. The acceptance of homosexuality as an alternate lifestyle by the government, along with the granting of a "special status" to those participating in that lifestyle, will eventually destroy what is left of the home and God's blessings on it.

4. In addition, children who depend on the home to give them God's guidance, accountability, security, stability, and love, will be left "homeless." As this occurs, more children and adolescents will experiment with the dangers of an ungodly world, looking for their purpose and acceptance.

D. Christians are vocal because our government has ceased to perform its God-given duty.

1. Timothy tells us that God gave the law to help people to do what is right and specifically mentions that it is the law's duty to stop people from defiling themselves with mankind, a reference to homosexual behavior.

9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
1Timothy 1

2. Instead of enforcing laws to help mankind, our government has engaged itself in forcing people to do things against God's laws. For example, judges are being forced to issue licenses to homosexual partners. In Oregon, a bakery was fined and ultimately closed because the Christian owners would not make a gay wedding cake.

There were plenty of other bakeries in Oregon. This business was singled out because it was known that they were Christians and would object to being forced to participate in a homosexual wedding. And what is next? Will the day come when Christian businesses and ministries-even churches-will be required to hire and insure gays? Will pastors be required to marry homosexual couples? Some like to pretend that homosexual rights just concerns the homosexuals, but it doesn't. It concerns everyone!

3. And who will take up the mantel that God--called government has laid down? The public? As public opinion becomes more of the authority, sooner rather than later, laws will be forsaken until nothing will be forbidden. We have already seen what happens when public opinion ruled in New Orleans, Louisiana, after Hurricane Katrina and in Ferguson, Missouri. In both cases, once the public decided they did not like how the authorities were handling things, chaos and anarchy ruled. The recent decisions by our leaders have emboldened a lawless public and the day will soon come when, like Sodom and Gomorrha, nothing sexually, legally, or morally will be deemed "wrong" by them.

E. Finally, Christians are vocal because God judged Sodom and Gomorrha for the same sin, homosexuality, and we do not want to see God judge America.

1. Some will mock by asking, "Do you expect God to rein down fire and brimstone?" No, probably not. What we expect is that God will allow more and more to turn from Him toward sins like homosexuality, abortion, false religion, and the occult, and that the weight of those sins will cause America to collapse onto itself.

1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
, 1Timothy 4

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers ,false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Timothy 3

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 2Peter 3:3

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 1:4

2. For those who love America and the God of the Bible, such a possibility causes us to stand up for the Bible and to be as vocal as grace will allow.
